Last Tuesday was Logan's day off. We wanted to do something different - something besides our usual taking a walk or going to the local playground. So, we planned a trip to the Tautphaus Park Zoo in Idaho Falls. I made ice the night before & the next morning packed our blue cooler full of food, including cold-cut sandwiches, string cheese, peanut butter crackers, peach fruit cups & Capri Suns.We made it to the zoo just in time for an animal show where Hannah was able to touch a lizard & ferret. She loved the ferret because it was "sauce" (soft) and went back to pet it a second time.
Logan was excited to see that the lion head water fountain is still working. He remembers drinking out of it as a child. Naturally, we had to take a picture of Hannah & the fountain.
Some of her favorite exhibits were the pigs, yak & chickens/rooster. They were all located within several feet of each other & she just ran back & forth as fast as she could yelling their respective animal names & noises. Unfortunately, the uneven ground caused her to trip & scrape her knee. Even today, Hannah is still pointing to it saying, "boo boo." I don't blame her - she's milking it for all it's worth. ;)Her least favorite exhibits were the monkeys. There were two monkeys, in particular, who were really intrigued by her. The moment she walked up to the glass, they swung down, sat on the window ledge & waved their arms & hands at her. She backed up & planted her little toes 3 feet from the glass, refusing to get any closer.
After the zoo, we ate our yummy lunch & played at the adjacent park for a while. Of course, Hannah slept all the way home. What a fun day!
